CPD Gestalt Group for Therapists, Counsellors and Coaches
*We currently have a place available for one new group member*
Every 6 weeks, in Central Bristol
10am-4pm
Maximum 8 participants.

My hope and aim with this CPD Gestalt group, is to create an ongoing experimental, experiential, and co-created group for psychologically minded professionals who wish to deepen their connection with others and explore themselves in relation to others. I see it as a group for those who want to meet and know themselves more fully, in the here-and-now experience of being in a group, with others who are also interested in relating and contacting. I will be holding a space, and creating a container for the group to be responsible, mostly, and for a group environment where there is a willingness to pay sensitive attention to the co-created emergent field in the space between us.
You may want to be seen, to be heard and to be understood in something personal and precious to you. You may be touched and impacted by something someone else has shared and want to share your experience too. You might feel emotions towards someone else in the group, sometimes strong emotions, and you may want to explore these, to understand yourself at a deeper level. Other people, and the experience we have in relation to them, can hold a key for us to unlock something deeper in our psyche and consciousness. Whilst we can experience energetic charge, and speaking this out can feel like walking in the air in in unknown territory, we can find ourselves somewhere radically new, open and different at the end of it. This group will be for people who have the wish, and the courage, to explore themselves openly with others in the group, and for those who are able to own their part and process, if not immediately then retrospectively, in relational encounters.
In my experience, open group, or group process is one of the most powerful, enticing and developmental elements of our training, and once qualified, people want to find a group to replicate this experience with others who have been through something similar. My aims and intentions are that this group will support deep, growthful personal work and connection with others, with the potential for an experience of true acceptance and belonging within a group.
Group work also offers unique opportunities for growth not readily available through individual therapy, and a group of therapists has the potential to live out the theory of relational gestalt therapy by nurturing an experimental and creative space. For those who often work alone, my hope is the group will become an ongoing supportive community to feel less alone, more connected, and more part of.
What we cover and the content we include in the sessions will be co-created, and co-designed, as we go through.
I have a particular interest in working with shame. As a group facilitator and psychotherapist, I believe that being transparent and owning my own process in response to another, is a vitally important component in not leaving the other with a feeling of shame about themselves. .
The group will run every 6-weeks, from 10-4 at Unity Street, Central Bristol BS1, 10am-4pm (20 mins walk from Bristol Temple Meads Train Station). We will start with a check in and check out, and open space in between for whatever arises in the space, for you, in relation to others, and for us within the field of the group. It’s an ongoing experimental project, and an experiential group, that will be shaped by the flow and life of the group. Each session gives a total of 5 hours CPD.
