Often people would like to know what the difference is between counselling and psychotherapy in Bristol. There are many overlaps, but a simple way of dividing the two is to think of counselling as a way of supporting someone through a particularly troubling and difficult life event, whilst psychotherapy is a longer-term process that looks at the growth and change of the client.
The key difference between a counselling and psychotherapy qualification is that psychotherapy training is longer in duration and involves the person in training being in personal therapy for the duration of the training. You can find out more about the training that I received at the Metanoia Institute from their website.
I now tend to work with clients interested in therapy in Bristol for longer-term work to help support the lasting personal change they are seeking in their lives.
