Supervision

“…it is the practitioner who actually holds the client stuck at some point in time, that any major healing or shift or movement towards a wholeness, is at some point, going to be restricted, not by the client’s pathology, not by the client’s lack of cooperation, of awareness or of sophistication, but by the practitioner”

This quote (by Maura Sills, Karuna Institute, Contemplative Supervision Training programme) gives an overview of my supervision philosophy and beliefs.

The main purpose of supervision is to ensure the efficacy of the therapist’s psychotherapy practice which, in turn, will enable a therapist to work towards the best possible psychotherapy practice for their clients.  I see supervision for therapists as a space to come and be supported in the work you do with your clients. This can involve bringing clients from your case load you would like help with, or parts of yourself from your practice that you want to explore and understand. You might want time and space to reflect on and explore how you are at the moment, how it is being you in your practice in the work that you do.
